-Today’s announcement further underlines our commitment to Macedonia and WIZZ’s dedication to bringing lowest-fare travel opportunities for our  customers,  coupled with WIZZ’s great onboard service on one of the youngest fleets operating in Europe. Our investment into the Skopje base with an additional aircraft, three new routes and increased frequencies on existing flights means more jobs in Macedonia with both WIZZ and our business partners and will further stimulate the tourism and hospitality industries and strengthen Macedonia’s business relations. As Macedonia’s hometown airline and the largest airline operating in Macedonia, Wizz Air is also celebrating today an important milestone, 3 million passengers carried on our low fare routes to and from Macedonia. We are celebrating WIZZ’s Macedonian success story with a special Seat Sale of 20%*off for all new bookings made today, 28 February, to any of the 27 destinations available from Skopje, stated Owain Jones, Chief Corporate Officer at Wizz Air.

Along with the newly launched routes, the flights from Skopje to Eindhoven, Brussels Charleroi, Memmingen (Munich West) and Copenhagen will have a frequency increase up to 3 flights weekly, while the connections from Skopje to Gothenburg Landvetter, Bratislava and from Ohrid to Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg will have a frequency increase up to four flights weekly.  At the same time, the popular routes from Skopje to Malmo and Mulhouse will now be served daily by Wizz Air.

-It is our great honor and privilege, before the start of the summer flight schedule, today to celebrate reaching 3 million Wizz Air passengers in Macedonia, basing of their fourth aircraft in Skopje and another good news - the announcement of three new routes to Rome, Malta and Vaxjo (Sweden), for which we are sure that will be met with great interest and excitement by passengers at Skopje International Airport. These three new destinations, together with the already announced new Wizz Air route to Budapest, that will start from the 2nd of April, are really attractive destinations, demanded by the market and will be a real success in the context of our route network expansion from both Macedonian airports . This is a result of our continuous marketing studies and activities'', stated Alper Ersoy, TAV Macedonia General Manager.

The fourth aircraft joining WIZZ’s Skopje fleet represents a further investment of further € 99 million** by WIZZ in Macedonia, creating 36 additional direct jobs and taking the total to over 150 direct jobs with WIZZ in Skopje.

In 2016 Wizz Air, Macedonia’s biggest airline, carried over 1 million passengers on its low-fare Macedonian routes, which represents a 27% growth year over year and supports more than 750 local jobs**** in associated industries. Demonstrating its dedication to the Macedonian market, the airline has continuously invested in its ever-growing network, offering now 29 routes to 13 countries from its two Macedonian airports: Skopje and Ohrid, including the route from Skopje to Budapest starting in April.

Over the past six years, since WIZZ launched its first flight from Skopje to London in June 2011, 3 million passengers have enjoyed the WIZZ experience, low fares, easy booking system and excellent on-board service on one of Europe’s youngest and most efficient fleets.
