TAV: FROM OCTOBER EUROWINGS WILL FLY ON THE ROUTE SKOPJE-MUNICH

Starting from 31st of October, the low cost airline Eurowings, member of Lufthansa group, will open the new route Skopje – Munich, connecting Skopje International Airport with Munich International Airport.

As the airline officials announce, lowest rates for prices of air tickets will start from 39.99 euros, connecting Macedonian citizens and all Skopje Airport passengers to the main airport in Munich, Franz Josef Straus Airport, which is the central airport hub in the German city. Eurowings recently announced 10 new transatlantic services from its Munich hub.

Eurowings will operate on the route Skopje-Munich two times a week, Tuesdays and Fridays, with its Airbus A320-200 aircraft, which has capacity of 174 seats.

- It is our strong belief that this will be great news for passengers both in Macedonia and in Germany because they will have another direct flight that will connect the two countries. This also marks the start of regular operations by Eurowings as a new low cost airline on the Macedonian aviation market. Skopje ‘Alexander the Great’ airport will have a connection with the main airport of Munich, which will be a great choice and opportunity for deepening the communication between the two cities. Another important fact that Eurowings is a member of the Lufthansa group, our passengers, not just from Macedonia, but also from the region will have additional connections both in Europe and on an intercontinental level beyond Munich - says Alper Ersoy, TAV Macedonia General Manager.

Tickets for the flights on this route are already on sale through the airline’s website, eurowings.com.

- October 31st will mark the start of our operations in Macedonia, with the opening of the route Skopje-Munich, as the only direct air connection between the two cities. We are very happy that Skopje joins our global network of 150 destinations. We believe this route will provide fantastic new opportunities for strengthening the bond between Macedonia and Germany and it will enable passengers in both countries, more easily to experience the both great cities, Skopje and Munich. We encourage all travelers to check our web page eurowings.com for booking and purchasing air tickets, where the lowest rates on this route start from 39.99 euros, stated Ivan Orec, Eurowings’ Network development manager.

The low cost airline Eurowings, which is based in Cologne, is a member of the Lufthansa group. It flies to more than 150 destinations in more than 40 countries in Europe and it is well known by the good route network to attractive tourist leisure locations. It flies to many countries in the region, such as Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Turkey. Eurowings is the fastest growing airline in 2017 and this year more than 22 million passengers will fly Eurowings.

TAV Macedonia recently added six new routes to its expanding network of destinations from the country’s airports in Skopje and Ohrid. Through ‘Alexander the Great’, passengers are now directly connected with Rome, Malta and Vaxjo (Sweden) with Wizzair, while Qatar Airways’ established its direct flight to Doha. The summer season in Macedonia’s top tourist destination, Ohrid, was marked by new direct route to Katowice in Poland.

TAV Macedonia finished the first seven months of 2017 with an 8% increase in the number of passengers, reaching 1.089.906 passengers at both Macedonian airports – Skopje Alexander the Great and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle. In July, both airports showed a rise in passenger numbers to a total of 229.776, which, compared to the same month in 2016, is a 15% increase.
