AT SKOPJE AIRPORT: With music and non-alcoholic sangria, TAV Airports sent the passengers on the first flights to Barcelona and Lyon

With a DJ playing Spanish and French music at gates 201 and 202 at Skopje International Airport, as well as a refreshing non-alcoholic sangria, TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports, sent the first 161 passengers to Barcelona and the first 180 passengers who took off  to the French city of Lyon, marking the start of these two air routes, that will be operated regularly by the low-cost airline Wiz Air, as of today, May 3rd 2025.

The winner of the two Wizz Air flight tickets was also onboard the first flight to Barcelona. She was randomly selected through the giveaway call that TAV Macedonia published on the Instagram page and the Facebook page of Skopje International Airport.
With this, the long-standing request for the return of the direct air connection between Skopje and the Catalan beauty – Barcelona, is fulfilled, to the great satisfaction of all lovers of this city of art, history, architecture and sports.

At the same time, thanks to Wizz Air, a completely new tourist destination is now open for citizens from Skopje International Airport. The French city of Lyon, is one of the largest gastronomic centers in the world and is considered the heart of French cuisine. Home of the famous chef Paul Bocuse, a city full of "bouchons" - traditional Lyon restaurants serving local specialties, a city of art, music, cultural events, as well as the famous Festival of Lights, which every year in December transforms the city into a magical light experience that attracts millions of visitors.

On the Skopje-Barcelona-Skopje route, Wizz Air will fly every Tuesday and Saturday, while flights to Lyon will be operated three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
