TAV MACEDONIA WELCOMED THE FIRST ATHENS – SKOPJE FLIGHT BY AEGEAN AIRLINES
The first direct flight, from Athens arrived at Skopje International Airport this evening. Aegean Airlines and TAV Macedonia launched the new air route Athens – Skopje – Athens as of 1st November
With a festive ceremony, TAV Macedonia welcomed the first direct flight from Greece’s capital to Skopje, operated by Star Alliance member and Greece’s largest airline Aegean Airlines. Passengers arrived at Skopje International Airport onboard Bombardier DH4, 78 seats, aircraft.
The direct route will operate on year-round basis, two days a week, that is, each Tuesday and Thursday. The first flight, today, Thursday, 1st November, from Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos to Skopje International Airport landed in Skopje at 18:55 hrs, and departed back to Athens at 19:48 hrs. Tuesday’s flights would arrive at Skopje International Airport from Athens at 09:15 hrs, while Skopje – Athens flight has been scheduled at 09:45 hrs.
TAV Macedonia officials outline that they are happy to add Athens, to the long list of cities connected with direct flights from Skopje.
-We are happy to announce the (re)launching of the direct route between Athens and Skopje. We believe that this would further develop and improve the economic relations between both countries. The direct route between Skopje and Athens would not be beneficial only for the business passengers but also for the leisure passengers, and for the entire tourism industry, since both countries have a lot to offer in terms of natural beauties and interesting and attractive places to be visited, discovered and explored by the travelers, stated TAV Macedonia General Manager, Alper Ersoy.
Aegean Airlines officials also expressed their immense satisfaction for the re-introduction of this route.

I hope that this service will be successful and the new direct flights will set the stage for new opportunities for trade, tourism and cultural exchange between our countries. I am confident that the new flights will also contribute in further expanding collaboration and cooperation between the two countries, in a manner that benefits both economies, stated Panos Nicolaidis, AEGEAN’s Ground Operations Director.
Flight tickets for the new Athens – Skopje service are on sale through Aegean Airline's website. Except for the direct air connection of Skopje and Athens and vice versa, the route shall enable the passengers with the opportunity of fast and convenient connections from the Greece’s capital city to other destinations.
Aegean Airlines currently operates to total of 153 destinations, 33 domestic and 122 international in 44 countries, with 16.600.000 available seats onboard 61 aircraft of one of the youngest fleets in Europe.
By adding this new destination, Skopje International Airport is now connected to 37 regular routes year round, operated by 13 airlines.
At Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, on 17th of November, the new route to Vienna will be opened, thus Ohrid Airport has 3 regular routes year round and 8 seasonal destinations, all operated by 11 airlines.
TAV Macedonia as an airport operator of both Macedonian airports, further records positive results as of the beginning of the year. Within the first nine months of 2018 (January – September), total of 1,8 million passengers traveled through both Macedonian airports – Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, which is 18% growth annually. At the same time, the total number of flights is 15.395, which is 12% growth compared to the same period last year.

There is regular shuttle bus to/from Skopje International Airport for passengers that drives and stops at key bus stops throughout the City of Skopje and arrives at the airport. V2V Transporter manages and operates the shuttle buses for passengers. The shuttle bus timetable is prepared according to the arrivals/departures of flights at Skopje International Airport. Skopje International Airport operates 24/7. Restaurants and cafes such as Cakes & Bakes, Café In, Burger King and NeedStop are available for the passengers at any time; business lounge (PrimeClass CIP Service) offers you comfort 24/7, while ATU Duty Free is opened as per the flights timetable and offers wide range of products.
Check-in at the passenger and baggage check-in counters starts 120 minutes (2 hours) before the scheduled time of departure (STD) specified on your flight ticket. The closing time of the airport check-in counter is no later than 40 minutes before STD stated on your flight ticket.

Passengers are allowed to carry on board free of charge items such as coat, 1 umbrella or walking stick, 1 ladies handbag, 1 camera or binoculars, 1 baby transporter, 1 pair of crutches or similar prosthetic aids, medical equipment on which the passenger is fully dependent, a reasonable quantity of baby food.

Yes. Since 2015 TAV Macedonia has introduced free Wi-Fi internet at Skopje International Airport, which was upgraded in 2019. Passengers can access free internet through their mobile devices by simply connecting to a wireless network called TAV Airports, password is not required.

Yes. At Skopje International Airport there are specially designated, marked parking lots for persons with disabilities and the car park services are free of charge within 24 hours. By enclosing the traffic license and the disability identification card at the Car Park Payment Counter, located inside the terminal building, our employees will cancel the car park ticket and the person with disability will be automatically exempt from paying for the car park service. If all designated parking lots for persons with disabilities are occupied, park your car on a regular parking lot, and following the above stated procedure you will be exempted from paying for the car park services.

Yes. At Skopje International Airport there is a Special Assistance Service for passengers with reduced mobility (PRMs). The counter where you can ask for this free of charge service is located inside the Terminal building, next to the Information Desk. Passenger with Reduced Mobility (PRM) means any person whose mobility is reduced due to physical incapacity (sensor or locomotor), intellectual deficiency, age, illness, or other cause of disability.
Yes. There is a smoking room at Skopje International Airport, which is located in the security-restricted area, airside. The smoking room is located next to Gate number 201, i.e., on the left side after you pass passport control and security screening.
In addition to the smoking room, passengers can use the open terraces of the cafeterias located at the entrance to the terminal building of the airport.
Smoking is prohibited in all other areas of the terminal building.
