TAV AIRPORTS GREEN INITIATIVES: Ohrid Airport staff planted trees along Ohrid Lake, Skopje Airport staff - in Ilinden Municipality

To promote sustainability and corporate social responsibility and to celebrate International Volunteer Day, December 5th, TAV Macedonia, the operator of both Macedonian airports and a subsidiary of TAV Airports, organized tree planting activities within the communities where it operates – Municipality of Ilinden and Municipality of Ohrid

Under the slogan – “Planting Today, for a Sustainable Tomorrow”, TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports, yesterday, December 4th, and today, December 5th, organized two tree planting activities where Skopje and Ohrid airports staff – volunteers planted trees in Ilinden Municipality and Ohrid Municipality, as a proactive move to increase its green impact, add to its sustainability efforts, and to celebrate International Volunteer Day, December 5th.

Thirty-five trees of the species “chinar” were donated by TAV Macedonia, and planted by Ohrid Airport staff volunteers along Ohrid Lake today, 5th December, in order to create greenery on the walking path from Kuba Libre Beach to Gorica Beach, in the City of Ohrid.

Yesterday, December 4th, TAV Macedonia donated 30 trees of the species cherry plum to Municipality of Ilinden, that were planted by Skopje Airport volunteers near the secondary school “Ilinden”, the kindergarten “Goce Delchev” and the sports complex in the Municipality.

“We are incredibly proud of the dedication and enthusiasm shown by our employees. The hands-on activity not only contributed positively to the environment and the local communities but also helped foster team spirit and a shared sense of purpose. This initiative is a powerful reminder that every action, no matter how small, can contribute to a larger, positive change. TAV Airports is committed to creating sustainable solutions, and we are excited to see the impact of these newly planted trees.” – said Nejat Kurt, TAV Macedonia General Manager.

The tree-planting environmental and volunteering activities have been organized and completed with the support of the municipality of Ilinden and its Mayor Aleksandar Georgievski and Municipality of Ohrid and its Mayor, Kiril Pecakov. The public communal enterprises “Ilinden” and “Ohridski Komunalec” helped and supported by preparing the soil and the ground for planting the trees.

With these two environmental and volunteering activities, organized to add value to the local communities where Skopje and Ohrid airports are located, TAV Macedonia has reaffirmed its commitment to green donations led by its staff volunteers. TAV Airports sustainability initiatives will continue, as well as group dedication to ensuring future generations inherit a healthier, more sustainable planet.
